Cali Roadtrip Time
So my summer term is officially over. That's ENGL 103 and HIST 108 out of the way. Both just some light gen-eds that didn't relate too heavily to my major. Before official grades get dropped, it's looking like I've got A's in both, so that's going to be good for my transcript for transferring to a Uni -- I'm currently at community college.
Anyways, with the term over and 2 weeks break, I figure it's time to go for a bit of a trip. I'm getting really tired of home right now, I need the escape before I get back to the hard semester that Fall is going to be. I'm planning to drive up the Cali coast, hit some Silicon Valley campuses to tour while I'm in the area anyways, and then stay with my mom for a while. She's a relatively short drive from the Bay Area.

I did a similar thing to this last year. My dad paid me to drive up to Reno and pick up something for him. I used the money to drive over to my mom when I was done and spend a week with her. I would say that trip was really transformative and self-reflective. Turns out 8 hours through California and Nevada leaves a lot of room for thinking about what's going on in your life, as well as a lot of room to get away from it all. It gave me the space to imagine that the things I didn't like about my life could be changed.
I'm kind of hoping something similar might apparition itself into this trip. I'm in a really different place this time around, so we'll see.

I'm likely to be bringing some books up with me. I've been trying to pick up reading again, but my motivation's been low. I'm in a bit of a funk for the past few months. I have been reading a little bit of Isaac Asimov lately though -- specifically "The Caves of Steel". I'll be bringing that one up with me. I'll probably also load my kindle up with a few old public domain texts worth reading. I've been eyeing Adam Smith's "The Wealth of Nations" lately. I'll also probably churn through an audiobook or two during the drive.
I also will hopefully be making a few blog posts along the way, both here and on the blog for my personal website.
