Post-Roadtrip Thoughts

About 2 weeks ago I got back from a week-long trip to see my sister in Colorado. It was really fun. We drove 14 hours in a single day to get over there, then 14 hours back a week later. I was going through my phone to see if I had any pictures I could post, but I guess I'm just not the type to take photos. I did take a few dozen pictures on those little disposable green cameras you buy at Walmart.

An image of the green camera I'm referring to
The camera looked something like this

I haven't gotten the developed images back yet, so that leaves me with nothing to post.

I did a fair bit of writing and thinking while I was up there. I brought my laptop so I could keep up with my homework for my summer college classes, but when my brain was refusing to be good at schoolwork, I opted to try a bit of writing on the side. I was able to put out a working first draft for a chapter 1 of a book that didn't even exist as a concept before I left town. It's a cyberpunk novel that explores themes about freedom online, interoperability, and DRM. It remains yet to be seen whether or not the concept is worth exploring further and developing into a full novel or not. I'm still hashing out the details. I may opt to scrap it and go for a better idea I come up with later instead.

Getting back, I've been able to hang out with friends some more. Maybe I wish I could do it even more, but alas the busy schedules don't always have very many opportunities to meet.

But that's something I've been thinking about, is trying to find ways to use the free time that I do have to be social and meet more people. It's hard when the only way you know how to meet people is to just go to college, because I'm already at college, and nobody there wants to socialize during the summer.

Well, that's what the next few weeks before the proper Fall semester starts. I'll be trying to get out more, and socialize around people more.
